PARTIAL MANUSCRIPT
EVALUATION
If a full manuscript evaluation isn’t in your budget, or if you suspect the issue is more stylistic than structural, you may benefit from a partial manuscript evaluation.
In a partial manuscript evaluation, an editor reads a sample of your writing to identify stylistic issues such as voice, point of view, dialogue, pacing, exposition, as well as some recurring mechanical issues like spelling and punctuation tics. (However, for a full correction of mechanical writing issues, you should hire a proofreader.)
The Partial Manuscript Evaluation cannot address the big-picture issues of structure, plot, character development, and themes. For that, a Full Manuscript Evaluation is required.
Partial Manuscript Evaluation — $500
How it works: Send me the first 50 pages of your manuscript. Within a week, I will send you a light markup of your manuscript (highlighting examples of the problems identified) and an editorial letter of 2-5 pages identifying stylistic issues and offering suggestions for correction. We will then schedule a one-hour ZOOM meeting to discuss the manuscript and letter.
